Guidelines to Write SEO-Friendly Press Releases

A valuable press release is one that targets audience members, journalists, and search engines. Keep this and the following press release guidelines in mind while creating your next press release.

-Headline/Title

The headline of a press release needs to include a relevant keyword phrase and grab the attention of your readers. If your headline doesn’t meet these requirements, search engines will not index it and users will not bother to read the content. Carefully work on a title that includes a keyword phrase. Try to reach 2 goals - create an attractive title for more clicks and at the same time optimize it for search engines. If it is impossible, fit in the keyword at first.

-Subhead

Your primary keyword phrase should be used here as well. Include more description so the title is further understood and engaging. It is recommended to include 1-2 secondary keywords that are different from the ones used in the title.

-Lead Paragraph

Your lead needs to set the tone for the entire press release. If interest is lost in the lead, the rest of your press release will not be read. Focus on creating interest while delivering the journalistic standard of supplying who, what, where, when, and why the rest of your press release is important.

-Body

For press releases getting distributed through the Internet, make the body copy at least 300 words in length. This way, if you’re including keyword phrases throughout, you make it possible to get indexed by Google. If your release isn’t at least 300 words long, Google will not pay attention.

The ideal size is between 300-800 characters with 1-2 quotes and 2-3 keyword phrases. This part of your press release should also be well-optimized because search engines pick up the parts of it and show it on their results page. Links are better if inserted at the first part of the press. An anchor text link is fine. If not allowed, then use HTTPS:// links.

A good practice is to use quotes from the company representatives because it is the only place in the press release where it is allowed to advertise and promote the company. Quotes should either tell why the news is a big achievement or highlight the benefits potential clients may get.

-About the Company

Prepare 2-3 sentences about your company and its services.

-Press Contact

Contact information should be relevant. If you have considered all mentioned above when writing your press release, then it can be called very SEO friendly. This is a really effective way to increase your web traffic.

Conclusion

If combined together, all these things will help you a lot when targeting an audience. Be more creative, go beyond traditional public relations and let your customers easily find you on the web. Some Effective SEO Techniques Which Increases Web Traffic of Your Blog

SEO Techniques

Every blogger and website owner wants his/her blog posts or web pages to reach a maximum number of people and gain popularity in search engines. This is again very important for the blogs and the sites as such because without visitors no blog or website can survive longer.

Even if you have the best possible content, it is useless if you don’t have enough readers. You simply can’t deny that better traffic means more money and lesser traffic means dead business.

To make your blog or site do really well and get lots of traffic, you’ll have to follow a few essential points. In this article, Seogdk mentions some important SEO tips on following these, your blog or website will surely do well.

1. Keep Writing and Make Your Content Unique and of Good Quality

You need to keep posting new content because the more you’ll post the more your blog or site will get found out in the search engines. Frequently updated sites and blogs are most preferred by search engines. So keep writing and keep posting from time to time. If possible post once every day but in case you are too busy to have it done, post at least one to two times every week.

But simply posting won’t help you as much as posting quality content. Make your content informative, useful, and interesting. Choose what’s currently creating a buzz. Pick up proper keywords and have them in your post.

2. Use Keywords

Using keywords is important for your website as well as blog content. Proper keyword usage increases the chances of your blog posts or website page getting displayed in the search engines for a specific keyword search. The best way to choose your keywords is to use some keyword research tool and pick the most favorable keywords related to your post. There are several of them available for free like the Google Keywords tool.

3. Choose an Easy Domain Name

If you haven’t created one already, you still have a chance to work on this point. Make sure that your Domain Name is not a big and complicated wordplay but an easy-to-remember simple set of words. Again, the best way to choose one related to the central topic with which your website or blog posts will deal is to keep the name as short as possible as it is easy to remember such names compared to the longer ones. For example, one can easily remember a name like “Best-Writing-Tips” than some longer names like “Seogdk’s-Best-Blog-Writing-Tips”.

4. Make Your Post Titles Attractive

It isn’t a very difficult task to do but of course, needs you to work a little intelligently. Titles are what your readers come across at the very first. So need to be extra careful about them. So keep them interesting, attractive, and to the point, and if possible try placing your keyword in them. Go through the other popular blogs in your niche and check out their post titles, this will give you a better idea.

5. Make Your Posts Search Engine Friendly

Pick up the best possible keywords that suit your content and place them in your post titles, in the main body, links, footers, Meta tags, etc. To make them more prominent, put them in Bold or Italics. You can even think of using them in the file names. So you can have files like yourkeyword.html.

But you also need to know that overusing the keywords is also disliked by the search engines, so keep them to the limit. For this, the best way is to use synonyms of the keywords.

6. Discover What Your Competitors Are Doing?

Search engines analyze incoming links to your website as part of their ranking criteria. Knowing how many incoming links your competitors have, will give you a fantastic edge. Of course, you still have to discover your competitors before you can analyze them.

Your analysis of competitors should include these extremely important linking criteria, such as:

-Competitor rank in the search engines

-Quantity AND quality of incoming links (prioritized)

-What keywords are in the title of the linking page?

-% of links containing specific keywords in the link text

-The Google Page Rank  or  MozRank of linking pages

-The popularity of the linking domain and the linking page (measured by links & mentions)
Aside from using some of the awesome SEO software mentioned on this website, here are some things I personally do when researching a competitor:

-Click the link to their Site Map page and see what keyword you find the links

-Get a savvy web person to find and parse their XML Site Map to find keywords in page names

-View the HTML title and meta tags of your top competitors to compile a list of needed content

7. Use Heading Tags Properly

Make good use of heading tags in your web page content; they provide search engines with information on the structure of the HTML document, and they often place a higher value on these tags relative to other text on the web page (except perhaps hyperlinks).

Use the <h1> tag for the main topic of the page. Make good use of <h2> through <h6> tags to indicate content hierarchy and to delineate blocks of similar content.
I don’t recommend using multiple <h1> tags on a single page so that your key topic is not diluted.

8. Follow W3C Standards

Search engines love well-formed, clean code. Clean code makes the site easier to index and can be an indicative factor of how well a website is constructed.

Following W3C standards also almost forces you to write semantic markup, which can only be a good thing for SEO.

9. Place Your Blog and Site Links in Your Social Profiles

If you have profiles on social sites like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.. Simply place the link to your blog or site to your profiles on these social sites. This will send you traffic from the visitors to your profiles.

10. Submit Your Blog or Site to the Search Engines

Every search engine and directory offers a special section through which you can send the link to your blog ad site. Google, Yahoo!, Bing, and Yandex are the major ones.
